
A community leader and motivational teacher in the Greater Denver, Colorado area, Karim AbuZaid holds a PhD in comparative religion with a focus on Islamic theology from American Open University in Cairo, Egypt. He is particularly knowledgeable of the interpretation and explanation of the Al-Qur’an. This expertise precipitated his founding of the Tafseer Al-Qur’an Institute, an organization that offers Arabic and Islamic study programs in Denver as well as in Lanham, Maryland, and Sharkia, Egypt. Karim AbuZaid also has traveled extensively as a visiting lecturer, released a range of recorded audio presentations, and authored numerous books in print.
Mr. AbuZaid has served as leading imam and executive director of the Colorado Muslims Community Center (CMCC) since establishing the Aurora, Colorado-based organization in 2012. His responsibilities with CMCC encompass all aspects of daily operational management, including leading initiatives to engage local young people in the community and connect to groups and individuals of different faiths.
